Timpview Basketball beat the Wasatch Wasps in their second-round playoff game on Wednesday, Feb 21. Both offenses started out slow with the score at the end of the first quarter just 11-8. Timpview took off for 24 points in the second quarter, and as time expired in the second Aisa Galea’i hit a buzzer-beater 3-pointer, making the score at halftime 35-26 in favor of the T-Birds. Timpview held the Wasps to 4 points in the 4th quarter and won the game 54-43. Leading scorers were Mason Ford, with 13, and Callen Tollstrup and Aisa Galea’i both tallied 12. We asked Corbyn Hansen, who had 6 points and led the team in assists, about his thoughts about the game. He said, “We were hurting them in the first half, but they came out strong in the second half.” He then commented about the team’s defensive strength as they only gave up 4 points in the 4th quarter. We then asked him about our next matchup in the Quarterfinals against the Orem Tigers. He responded by saying, “Their players are great guys, but we got some bad blood, and we don’t like their school.” Some strong words from the junior. Timpview plays Orem on Saturday the 24th at 9:30 am at the University of Utah basketball court called the Huntsman Center. Be there to support Timpview and witness more history.
