Timpview High School bands performed at Kiwanis Park over the weekend, creating a memorable night of music.
The evening began with ambient coffee shop music playing through a speaker as various band members patiently waited. As the heat of the day subsided and a gentle breeze took over, attendees of all ages—students, Timpview graduates, children, and parents—assembled to enjoy the concert. The soothing background music was interrupted by a guitar strum from Peter Snow (12), signaling the start of the first set.
The Lipps were the first band to play, performing a mix of cover songs, including Weezer’s “Beverly Hills”, alongside some of their original material. They announced, sadly, that their drummer would be leaving soon, making this their last performance together, which added a nostalgic touch to their set.
Next up was the band Lavon, who had great energy and enthusiasm about their set. Junior Sam Wilson’s dynamic guitar playing contributed to a lively performance. Their set featured an original instrumental piece, and their overall sound showcased a level of professionalism.
Lady Macbeth, the host band, took the stage and started their set with “Debutante Ball.” In a recent interview, the band was asked about the best part of performing.
“I really like just seeing everything come together. We work hard, we find music that makes us happy, and then in that final moment, when you finally get to perform, you get to see everything you’ve worked for pay off, alongside the people who helped make it happen,” sophomore Maddie Sawyer said. Their dedication paid off, resulting in an amazing performance on Saturday night.
Last, but definitely not least, was Paranormal Housewives, a jazz and rock band. As the largest band of the night, they created a uniquely rich sound using their diverse set of instruments. Paranormal Housewives blew everyone away with their performance, earning a well-deserved standing ovation.
“Everyone was so talented, and you could tell they put so much into their music. They all had so many originals, which is super impressive for high school bands, and they were all very well developed and complex,” sophomore Lily Homer remarked regarding the show.
Lady Macbeth did an outstanding job organizing this local event. These bands are on their way to do great things!
