Timpview’s varsity football team recently played an away game against Wasatch High School, home of the Wasps. Since it was an away game, our student section wasn’t as large or energetic as in previous match ups, with about 40 students making the trip to Heber to support the team. In a typical display of teenage mischief, three Timpview students thought it would be funny to prank the Wasps’ student section by throwing two stink bombs into their area. Initially, this sparked laughter among the three students, but it quickly escalated into fear as they worried about possible retaliation from the other student section.
As the Timpview students walked back to their own section, they noticed a woman from Wasatch’s administration following them. They were asked to move to a less crowded area, where they met Mr. Fell, one of Timpview’s administrators.
The students faced consequences regarding future Timpview events, particularly football games. They were required to meet with Mr. Fell on Monday, October 7th, to discuss further disciplinary actions. Ultimately, they were banned from attending the next two football games, including senior night, and were instructed to write apology letters to the administrations of both Timpview and Wasatch.
This incident serves as a reminder of the fine line between playful fun and disruptive behavior. While school spirit is an essential part of the high school experience, it’s crucial for students to consider the potential consequences of their actions. As the Timpview community reflects on this event, it demonstrates the importance of sportsmanship, respect, and accountability, ensuring that future events can be enjoyed by all in a positive atmosphere.
