During a challenging tournament on Monday, October 14th and Tuesday, October 15th, the Timpview boys’ golf team moved from a tie in 10th to solo 5th thanks to great scores by junior Mo LeCheminant, sophomore Calvin Lillywhite, and senior Max Clark. After finishing Monday’s round with a score of 299, the T-Birds were initially disappointed but determined to recover and improve their score. On the final day of the tournament, the team shot a season-tying low of 284, allowing them to pass six teams, including rival Spanish Fork.
Although the region play wasn’t quite what the team had hoped for, they remained optimistic about their future state scores. Timpview has a strong reputation of golf, and this year was not a disappointment. The T-Birds finished second in region and fifth at state, making it a very successful season. LeCheminant noted, “The vibes are always good with Timpview golf. We keep it fun and relaxed.” Senior Ryan Reichman added, “These were the best four years of my life. I’m sad it’s over.”
The season was full of adversity, which carried over into the first day of state. Senior Kaden Linford struggled with momentum and consistency, while junior Acey Smith worked on overcoming the nerves of a state golf experience. However, with many of the nerves behind them and a nothing-to-lose mentality, the team played freely and was able to bounce back from their previous performance. Clark said, “After the first day, Coach Ward let us know that we had to leave everything out on the course and that everything we had worked for all year would be for nothing if we didn’t prove ourselves the next day. Sure enough, we clutched up.” The team captains, along with Coaches Ward and Landers, showed strong leadership in the transition from the first to the last day.
Overall, the 2024-2025 season was a success, and the state tournament was rewarding. The four seniors —Max Clark, Kaden Linford, Ryan Reichman, and Joe Jurca— expressed a lot of love for their team and the school. The Timpview boys’ golf legacy lives on in triumph and hopes to continue for many years to come.
