After a big win against Springville on November 1, Timpview Football will play Orem in a heated quarterfinal game, on Friday, November 8. The game will kick off at 3 pm at Timpview High School, with the stakes higher than ever. In the last game Timpview played against Orem, starting quarterback, senior Carson Rasmussen (#2), injured his arm and has been unable to play since.
The Provo High transfer and senior Soakai Aston (#11) took his place as starting quarterback during the last Orem game and the game against Springville. Aston will also be starting this week at the upcoming Orem game. The Quarterback has had very successful seasons prior to coming to Timpview, playing as Provo’s starter and he even plays varsity basketball in the off season.
In an interview, Aston explained that his decision to transfer to Timpview came from his desire “to get better coaching and help him become the best he can be.” He “feels very good” about the game and feels Timpview “needs to execute their plays to win.” The Quarterback wants to “stay focused and keep his mind right” in preparation to start this Friday, as his season has “been good with a lot of work left to do.” Aston has been and will continue to be a great asset to the team as Timpview progresses in the state tournament.
As unfortunate as Rasmussen’s injury was for the Timpview team, Soakai Aston has proved to show the resilience that T-Birds have as well as dedication for their sport.
All fans are encouraged to attend the tailgate before the game, at 2 pm, where food will be provided for all students. The game is free to attend and all should show up wearing orange and white. Come support Timpview in their path to the state championship and do rowdy right.
