Mrs. Napierski, the new drama teacher, has brought a fresh energy and excitement to Timpview Theater. Napierski has meticulously selected the cast for our fall musical, ensuring each character has a perfectly suited student to take on the role. The cast list was announced on August 23, revealing several exciting and notable lead roles. Here is a closer look at the acting journeys of some cast members, and their experience with Seussical The Musical.
Freshman, Elsa Perry will portray the role of Jojo, a young boy with “an imagination like no other,” she says. Perry has enjoyed her time with Timpview theater and looks forward to working alongside Napierski in the coming years. Perry began her acting career at the age of 7 and continues to work hard with her great community she describes as “kind, supportive, and always there for each other”. Perry is thrilled to make her Timpview Theater debut, eager to bring Jojo’s wild imagination to life on stage!
Senior, Taft Smith will portray the role of the Cat in the Hat. This will be Smith’s tenth and final show with Timpview. Smith shares that the theater program has been very life-changing, as he has “learned how to work together with people of different opinions and thought patterns to make an amazing piece of art”. Smith has participated in theater for 6 years, and it has grown to be a center point of his life. He invites all to “come see this show so that they can take a break from their crazy lives and just experience joy while reliving their childhood through this show”.
Senior, Cannon Hadfield will portray the role Horton the Elephant. Hadfield credits the school’s performing arts program for greatly enriching his high school journey. He shares “Whether it be marching band, concert band, theater, or singing, [he has] loved to be a part of this program”. Hadfield shares his optimistic views on Seussical describing it as everything good and joyous from Dr. Seuss brought to life on the Timpview Stage. He is excited to take the stage adding that each show creates a “memory and a special moment that can create lasting impacts, relationships, and morals for everyone that’s involved”.
Last but certainly not least, Senior, Gracie Griffin will be playing one of her dream roles, and will portray the role of Gertrude McFuzz. Griffin describes her character, Gertrude McFuzz, as a bird who gains confidence throughout the show, transforming from a shy, anxious character into one who values inner worth over outward appearance. Griffin has loved her time with the Timpview theater department, explaining she has been lifted up by the community in ways she never would have expected.
