Timpview Star Swimmer Kate Reichner Commits to Utah Tech University

Timpview High School senior Kate Reichner has officially committed to swim at Utah Tech University, joining the school’s swim team for the 2025-2026 season. The announcement, made last Wednesday, comes after a competitive recruiting process that saw interest from both BYU and Utah Tech.

Reichner, a standout swimmer at Timpview, has already made waves in the local swimming community. She is the second sister in her family to pursue college swimming, following in the footsteps of her older sister, Annie Reichner, who currently competes for the BYU Swim Team.

“I’m excited!” said Reichner when asked about her decision to join Utah Tech. Her choice was driven by a desire to remain close to family and friends while continuing her swimming career. “I want to swim in college and I wanted to stay close by family and friends,” she explained.

The recruiting process, however, was not without its challenges. “It was stressful,” Reichner admitted, reflecting on the decision-making process that ultimately led her to Utah Tech. But the excitement of committing to the program outweighed the pressure.

Before she leaves Timpview, Reichner has set high goals for herself, including breaking the school record in the 200 Individual Medley (IM). The current record stands at 2:08, and Reichner is only a second behind with a personal best of 2:09. She’s also determined to win at Junior Nationals.

Looking ahead to her college career, Reichner is focused on helping Utah Tech’s swim team excel. “I want to win the conference at Utah Tech,” she said. As for events, Reichner will continue to compete in the 200 butterfly, 200 backstroke, and 400 IM.

In addition to her achievements in the pool, Reichner expressed gratitude to those who have supported her along the way. “I want to thank my teammates and family for their support, but especially my sister, Annie. She’s set such a great example for me, and I want to be just like her.”

With a promising future ahead, Reichner is ready to take the next step in her swimming career and make a lasting impact at Utah Tech. We wish her the best of luck as she continues to chase her goals and represent Timpview on the collegiate stage.
