Timpview Boy’s Basketball held tryouts last Monday, November 11. The coaches selected a team with four out of the five starters from last year, along with their top two bench players.
Here is the complete roster for the JV/Varsity Team for the 2024-2025 season:
- Aisa Galea’i
- Dean Rueckert
- Will Openshaw
- Jackson Ford
- Lincoln Holcombe
- Jackson Palmer
- Mason Ford
- Jacob Billeter
- Max Cleveland
- Taj Taylor
- Jayden Palmer
- Braxton Wilkerson
- Cooper Cleveland
- Callen Tollestrup
- Roman Viveiros
The team is led by 4-star junior Dean Rueckert and Timpview football star junior Aisa Galea’i. Last year, Rueckert led the team in points with 19.2 PPG and Galea’i followed as the second leading scorer with 11. 4 PPG. These are the two most impactful players returning from last year. The team is excited to have them back.
Joining these two are several solid players including Callen Tollestrup, Will Openshaw, and Mason Ford. All three players bring valuable skills to the team.
Another one of the most important players to this season’s team is junior Jackson Palmer. He hustle’s after every ball, get 50/50’s, and get offensive rebounds. He may be the one to lead the team in rebounds and steals this season. All these players have promising qualities. For example, Tollestrup is a sniper when he has a guard to get him the ball, Openshaw is hard to shoot over in the paint, and Ford can really shoot from beyond the arc.
This team’s play style is forced to play a slow game. Coach Ingle loves playing more than half the game in a half court set. However, when this team is allowed to get out on the run, they will score over 80% of the time on fast breaks. This team is also very successful when they are able to run a full court trap.
This team functions best if they play together. If they can maintain 15+ assists a game they will be State Champions. They are better than most teams because they are bigger, stronger, and faster than every other team. They have a dynamic group of players who will each bring their individual abilities to improve the overall success of the team. Timpview Boys Basketball plays Wheeler High School at HoopFest in Pleasant Grove on November, 26. We wish them the best of luck this upcoming season!
