There are so many extraordinary students at Timpview. These students are constantly working so hard and making amazing contributions to our school. One of these students is Ashlyn Elder. Ashlyn has been in the Chamber Orchestra for all four of her years at Timpview, was one of the winners for the Concerto/Aria Competition, and is the captain of Timpview Dance Company.
Ashlyn is eighteen years old, she plays the violin, loves to ski with her family, and to travel. She has been dancing for nine years at SMASH Dance Academy as well as with the dance company. When asked about her favorite part of Dance Company, she said that she loves performing at halftime, the concert week, and becoming a team with the girls. Ashlyn is a great friend to everyone, constantly putting smiles on people’s faces and helping others feel loved. When asked about who her inspiration was and who has impacted her life, Ashlyn responded, “My mom! She is always so patient and kind to others. She carries herself very well, and I really look up to that.”
Dance is a way that Ashlyn is able to challenge herself in a new way, a way that is different from her schooling and to give herself a break from outside distractions and stress. When asked about her daily schedule, she said that it starts with early morning dance at 6:30 am, then a full day of school, then straight to dance until around 8:00 pm, and finally back to her home, where Ashlyn can work on some homework and practice violin until 11:00-12:00 pm.
“I think Dance Company is a really good way to be involved in the school. We are really fortunate with what we get to do and the opportunities we have as a team. I am so thankful for it!” Ashlyn finishes off. Ashlyn Elder’s hard work, tenacity, humbleness, and kindness have gotten her to where she is today. Timpview is so thankful for her contribution to this school, as well as all of the students who are doing their best in everything they are doing, in and out of school.
