A large conspiracy theory has been traveling across the media for the past few years. The conspiracy being: did we land on the moon?
According to sites such as Wikipedia and The Guardian, around 20% of Americans believe we did not. There are many different opinions and facts that sway me to neither side. Did we or did we not? I decided to ask a few students and a teacher their personal opinion on this conspiracy in order to further understand Timpview’s perspective on this conspiracy theory.
Timpview English teacher Mr. Chow stated that, “yes, we did land on the moon.” The video footage of the landing was enough proof for him to be a believer and “[he chooses] not to believe in mass conspiracy theories.” This opinion goes to show how polarized this topic is. Some look into the evidence and some go with what is told. Timpview junior True Andersen said that “we did not land on the moon. Why have we not gone back since? The cameras would have fried and the film would have been over exposed. The footage does not look real. The way people move does not align with the way gravity works.” With research that has been done, his point is valid and his view is the same as people who question the moon landing. On the opposing side, senior Ethan Overson said that he believed “it would be too hard to keep that big of a secret for this many years. Why hasn’t anyone come forward to say that we did not land on the moon by now? There are remnants of the spacecraft along with proof of them taking off.” Ethan brings up valid concerns about the logistics of faking a project so large in scale. I have found that many believe that the moon landing was real, but that the footage was fake. Of course, there is evidence and research into both sides of this conspiracy theory.
So what do you think, did we or did we not land on the moon?
