When you think of Rom-Coms, the first thing that usually comes to mind is the stereotypical comfort movies that girls enjoy while eating a tub of ice cream. However, the genre is not just for women, they are a guilty pleasure for many boys as well. To further explore this, a few Timpview male students were asked about their favorite Romantic Comedy.
Luke Clark: Sleepless In Seattle
“Sleepless In Seattle” is a heartwarming romantic comedy about two strangers, brought together by fate on a radio show, who find love despite being miles apart. Luke loves this movie because Tom Hanks is the starring male lead. “It is an easy watch especially around Christmas time that makes you feel good.”
Davey Boyce: Clueless
“Clueless” is a lighthearted comedy about a fashionable and well-meaning high schooler who navigates matchmaking, friendships, and self-discovery in Beverly Hills. Davey stated that he loves this movie because it is funny and he can watch it over and over again without getting bored.
Ethan Overson & Jaxton Snyder: 10 Things I Hate About You
“10 Things I Hate About You” follows the story of a girl who goes out with a guy without knowing that he was paid to ask her out. This romantic story reimagines Shakespeare’s “The Taming of the Shrew”. This movie was ranked highly among Timpview Boys, so it is a popular one. Both of these boys have another thing in common, other than being gym bros, is that they both love this modern romantic comedy that stars Heath Ledger.
Mr. Garfield: 50 First Dates
“50 First Dates” is a romantic comedy about a man who falls in love with a woman suffering from a short-term memory loss and makes it his mission to win her heart everyday. Mr.Garfield, the manly history teacher, loves this movie because it makes him laugh while pulling at his heart strings.

Leo Auernig: Definitely Maybe
“Definitely Maybe” is a heartfelt romantic comedy about a father recounting his past relationship to his young daughter, helping her uncover the true story of how he met his mother. Leo loves this movie because “it is not your average romcom, it is sweet and tender and enough to make a boy cry.” He said this through tears.
True Anderson: 500 Days of Summer
“500 Days of Summer” is a bittersweet Rom-Com dramedy that explores the complexities of love and heartbreak through the non-linear story of a man reflecting on his failed relationship.
