Both Boys Basketball and Girls Basketball have finished up their seasons. The teams were very successful, and they even made it to the Huntsman Center for the State Tournament.
The girls’ team finished with a record of 14-10. Their region record was 6-6 and the girls finished 4th in the region. However, they were in a rough region because of Wasatch’s success. The team was led in points by senior Lina Ballin. On average, she led the team with 13.8 points per game. Additionally, the girls came out of non-region games with an 8-4 record. Timpview Girls Basketball was able to get a 7th seed in the State Tournament, and then they beat West Jordan in the second round. From this, they moved onto the Quarterfinals and then lost to Wasatch by 10 points. This ended their season, but it was all-around very successful.
The boys’ team finished with a record of 20-6. They climbed the national rankings all the way up to 35th. The team was able to have a great region game record of 8-2, finishing 2nd in the region. The only team that they lost to was Orem, and in the most recent game against them, there was a brawl between the players. The boys team got a great ranking in the State Tournament with a 3rd seed. They played Kearns in the 2nd round and blew them out by 36 points. Then, they were able to make it to the semifinal round, but unfortunately lost to the state-champion Olympus Titans by 18 points, which ended their season.
The 2025-2026 season will have interesting changes for both teams. The girls’ team will likely return some young players, which gives them a couple of years of experience and leadership for the team. The team only has four graduating seniors, so they will have lots of returning players. But, their current highest scorer, Lina Ballin, will be leaving.
On the boys side of things, nobody knows what’s happening. There have been rumors of players leaving, as there always is after falling short of a championship. In my opinion and from the sound of things, it is likely that most players will return next year, and if that’s the case, look for the T-Birds to make a deep run next year.
