At Timpview High School, the Friendship Council is more than just an extracurricular activity, it is a chance to make a meaningful impact in the lives of students. Founded and led by Alexander Burt, the council offers students an opportunity to promote kindness, inclusivity, and unity within the school community.
Alexander Burt, the council’s dedicated leader, has always been passionate about fostering an environment where everyone feels welcome. As a student himself, Burt noticed how easy it was for some students to feel left out or overlooked. With this in mind, he set out to create a space where kindness was celebrated, and where every student could find a sense of belonging.
Students who join the Friendship Council gain more than just a club experience, they also gain a deeper sense of empathy and understanding. By working with students from various backgrounds, members of the council learn the importance of supporting their peers through the ups and downs of high school life. Whether it’s offering a listening ear or helping someone find a group to sit with at lunch, the Friendship Council plays a crucial role in building a school culture based on respect and care. When Mrs. Hale was asked about Friendship Council she explained how it is a “great place to meet new people.” Additionally Mrs. Bacon shared her thoughts on the friendship council expressing how she thought “friendship club is a place where everyone is welcome.”
Through the Friendship Council, you can plan hangouts and meet ups. For example, this past week some of the members met up at Handles Ice Cream for an outing. This helped them become better friends and was a fun activity for everyone who came.
By joining the Friendship Council, students at Timpview High School are not only making their school a better place—they’re also making lasting friendships and memories. Through the efforts of Alexander Burt and the members of the council, Timpview High is more than just a place to learn; it’s a place where students can grow, connect, and make a difference. Everyone should consider joining the Friendship Council!
