With only three weeks until the end of the school year, students are frantically turning in late work and anxiously anticipating the last day of school. However, the seniors have a different situation. They are finishing their FINAL classes, preparing for graduation, and possibly feeling bittersweet about leaving.
Underneath the excitement of starting a new stage of life, how do the seniorsĀ actually feel? Their overall feeling was “mixed emotions,” they weren’t sure how to feel. Everyone expressed how excited they were. Excited to be done. Excited for what’s next, for what the future holds. However, many were sad to be done and leave friends and all the aspects of high school behind.
“High school was some of the best years,” Anistyn Barber expressed. “But I’m ready for what’s next.”
With the school year coming to a close, there are a handful of senior activities going on. It’s sad that these things are coming to an end, because this kind of stuff doesn’t happen a lot.
There are many things we learn along the way in high school, things you can take away. After over a decade in school and four years in high school, the seniors have plenty of advice to offer to the underclassmen.
“Be friends with everyone and reach out. You won’t regret it.” Hazel Weaver said. This advice is great and very applicable. Many people become intimidated and then regret not being friendly or nice to others.
Barber offered her thoughts on this as well. “Take all of your hardest classes the first three years, so your senior year can be fun.” She explained that she was glad she didn’t take any hard classes this year, because she was able to have a lenient schedule, and took easier classes that she was more interested in.
These are the years that you will learn so many things, make good friends, and have fun. Don’t stress the little things. Don’t be embarrassed. You only have so long. Remember, high school only happens once. Make it count.
