As September rolls around and school starts to feel like school again, something we can all look forward to is the annual Homecoming dance.
Homecoming is great, it’s a fun time with friends, an excuse to get all dressed up, and a chance to shoot your shot with that person you’ve had your eye on all summer. Some people couldn’t even wait until school started, and homecoming posters began gracing (or darkening) doorsteps before the first bell rang.
Whether going with a date, friends, or just going stag, here’s everything you need to know to make the most of this iconic high school experience.
Homecoming week is September 8th through 13th, with a different dress up theme every day leading up to the dance.
Monday – Peter Parker Day (sweaters, cameras, button ups, glasses)
Tuesday – Dimensional Duo (twin day)
Wednesday – Mad Scientist (crazy hair day)
Thursday – Spider Out (red and blue)
Friday – Web Out (white)
Dressing to theme makes the week so much more fun, I mean doing your biology notes dressed as a mad scientist is better than doing it in jeans and a t-shirt.
The Homecoming assembly will be Thursday, September 11th during school. It’ll be a single assembly schedule and will be in the Thunderdome. Then, the Homecoming football game will be Friday, September 12th against Wasatch, 7pm on the turf. Homecoming royalty will be announced during halftime.
Speaking of homecoming royalty, make sure to vote in your grade’s canvas classroom!
Saturday, September 13th will be the dance! The theme (if you haven’t guessed by now) is Spiderman Homecoming! The dance will be from 8-10pm in the Commons.
Tickets go on sale the week of the dance, they’ll be $15 beforehand and there’s a $5 increase if you buy them at the door, so make sure you’re on top of that. You need to be in the green or yellow zone for attendance by September 8th to be able to purchase tickets and if you’re bringing a guest from another school, make sure to complete the guest form by September 4th.
Get excited T-birds! But remember, with great power comes great responsibility. (I had to fit that in somewhere!)
