Officials have reportedly taken into custody the man who allegedly shot Kirk. He has been identified as 22-year-old Tyler Robinson. Robinson reportedly had confessed to his father about committing the crime. His father then urged him to turn himself in. According to TMZ Robinson had initially refused, saying he’d rather commit suicide, later changing his mind. Robinson’s father then contacted a youth pasture who works with the U.S. Marshal for assistance. The pastor then turned Robinson in to the FBI. In a press conference Friday morning, the FBI revealed that Robinson had become radicalized. He had expressed to his family at a dinner his dislike for Kirk. A family member said Tyler claimed Kirk was “full of hate”. There were also inscriptions found on the bullets casings reading, “Hey fascist, catch”.  Another stating “Bella ciao”, a reference to Italian resistance against Nazis. Robinson was arrested at his fathers house. He is currently being held without bail in a Utah jail.

The FBI has released a photo of who they believe the shooter might be at the time. They captured the individual on CCTV cameras on campus entering the building the shot was believed to come from not long before the event began and leaving soon after the shot was fired. The FBI has asked for help in finding the individual in the photos as he is still at large. Officials have found what they believe to be the rifle used to shoot Kirk. According to officials there are markings on the rifle and ammunition of phrases related to social issues.

President trump has announced Charlie Kirk’s death in a statement saying “The great, and even legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead. No one understood or had the heart of the youth in the United States of America better than Charlie. He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us. Melanie and my sympathies go out to his beautiful wife Erika, and family. Charlie, we love you!”
