Earlier today, Sept. 13, 22-year-old Utah resident Tyler Robinson the suspect accused of fatally shooting conservative activist Charlie Kirk was identified, and taken into custody by U.S. Marshalls.
Utah governor Spencer Cox gave a statement in a press conference this Friday morning, where he confirmed the suspect’s identity of the 22-year-old from Washington county, Utah resident.
Gov. Cox said that one of Robinson’s family members gave a tip to a family friend, who contacted the Washington County Sheriff’s office. He said that Robinson had supposedly confessed, or implied, to his family of his crimes.
Investigators then later identified Robinson as the person in the Utah Valley University surveillance footage, the place where Kirk was killed. Security footage showed Robinson arriving at UVU at 8:29 a.m. in a gray Dodge Challenger.
