Halloween is a few weeks away and the buzz surrounding costumes is on the brink of hot topics. Before you have to rush order your cliché costume from Amazon three days before October 31st, take a look at some of these new ideas that could even save you money if you choose to DIY! There’s a mix of single, duo and group costumes, so you can be prepared for all of your Halloween festivities.
#10 – FERGIE’S ONE HANDED FLIPS
As unique as this one is, I’ve seen it done before. This is a real photo of the icon Fergie doing one handed front walk overs while performing. If you know how to do a one handed front walk over, this could be the costume for you. Her outfit can easily be replicated with items in your own closet, a microphone and a little space to do those flips.
#9 – A LITERAL PARTY ANIMAL
Make all of your wildest dreams come true if you decide to be a literal party animal this year. It’s super simple if you get any animal onesie and add your choice of party hat.
#8 – SMARTIE PANTS
If you are willing to spend some cash on Smarties, you can make a punny costume. You can hotglue, tape or even sew smarties onto your pants to accomplish this look. For a fun-finish, wear some classes and suspenders so you look even smarter.
#7 – HUNTRIX / SAJA BOYS
The release of the movie K-Pop Demon Hunters has provided the perfect dress-up for many fans this Halloween. Even though you might need to be extra crafty and/or spend a bit more cash, this costume tops some of the most basic ones.
#6 – 13 GOING ON 30 PARTY DRESS
This is one that I may be biased to as a 13 Going On 30 super-fan, but it doesn’t make it any less awesome. This one is super specific and needs to be accomplished precisely so that people know who you are. You can find this dress online, and after that all you need are some lengthy earrings, strappy heels, bright blue eye shadow, pink lipstick, and awesome spikey hair. You can even top the dress with a cute coat to layer it with a cap sleeve underneath for the weather and it will still look cool!
#5 – PAINTERS
This one is simple, yet fun to make. All you really need is a pair of white overalls/coveralls that you are willing to stain, a paintbrush and paint. If you are dressing up with a friend, make it fun and have a paint fight!
#4 – LAZY TOWN
Throwback to your childhood show when these were the only people you wanted to be. You might need to work extra hard to accomplish this if you are hand making this costume, or start saving so you can make it look legitimate. You can pull it off with one of the duo in a pink bob wig and pink outfit, and another in a blue hat and and blue sporty outfit.
#3 – STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE CHARACTERS
There are so many ways you can style this costume, but the best choice regardless is with your friends. If you each pick a color and some knee high socks you are set. You are totally going to rock your Halloween night and festivities, and if you have to split up for any reason, the good news is, people will most likely be able to tell who you are.
#2 – BARBIE PRINCESS CHARM SCHOOL
This is an iconic Barbie outfit and a throwback to your childhood, if you have ever seen this movie. This is one that you have to get right or people might not know who you are trying to dress up as. Make sure you at least have a tiara, knee high socks, a pink plaid skirt and tie, and a blue school girl vest.
#1 – HOT ROD
If you have ever seen the movie Hot Rod, this is a costume you won’t want to miss. It is easy and totally iconic. All you need is blue coveralls, a patch that says rod, and a cape. Then wear some lace up blue vans and you are all set.
