The Timpview Girls Soccer team season is going to wrap up and they look to do what they couldn’t last year; win the state championship. But while we wait for the playoffs to start, let’s look back. What were the games that defined the T-birds season?
Hat Trick Haskins:
Coming off of pre-season on a two-game losing streak, Timpview opened the season with a 4-2 win against Timpanogos, who were coming off of a loss of their own—a 3-2 loss to American Fork. Senior Forward Lily Haskins had herself a game, scoring a hat trick (6’, 21’, 54’) to ensure the T-birds win, with Freshman Forward Sarah Shumway scoring her first high school goal (33’). Multiple Timpanogos giveaways and a good performance from the T-bird defense allowed Timpview to control the match.
Overtime Thriller at Mountain View:
Riding on a five game winning streak, the T-birds came into the game, expecting to get the win against fourth placed Mountain View, who were looking to defend their home turf. In the 25th minute, the Bruins struck first with a curled shot inside the box past the keeper. But fifteen minutes later, the T-birds struck back. A header from a corner kick found the feet of a Bruins defender who failed to clear it. The ball fell to Junior Winger Savannah Rencher, who fired a shot past the goalkeeper from close range. They went into overtime tied at 1-1. Senior Midfielder Natalee Moffat cited “not being able to connect in the box and taking crazy shots” as the reason for the T-birds lack of finishing in regulation.
Eight minutes into overtime, the Bruins unleashed a shot that looked like it was going in, but hit the crossbar. No less than a minute later, Junior winger Savannah Rencher took the ball into the final third, taking a clever touch past one defender, going centrally at another, before changing directions towards goal, unleashing a shot that took a deflection past the outstretched Bruins keeper’s hands—giving her the brace and giving Timpview the thrilling 2-1 OT win.
Timpanogos nudges past Timpview at the Death:
The T-birds looked to ride on the confidence of their dramatic overtime win against Mountain View as they hosted second place Timpanogos who, with only a win, would take first place in region from Timpview. Right from the start, the game was fast paced and very back and forth. But neither side could take advantage of their chances as they went into overtime tied at 0-0. Timpanogos broke through in the 100th minute, putting a one on one counterattack chance with the goalkeeper away. Senior Midfielder Natalee Moffat said, “We decided to play three in the back and push one of our defenders forward, but we got caught in that transition so our backline wasn’t in good spots, which is why they scored on us.” Timpanogos won 1-0 and, as a result, took first place in region from the T-birds—who are still playoff eligible.
The T-birds now look to close off the season with games against Lehi and Mountain View, after which they’ll learn their opponent in the playoffs. Ranked second in the region and sixth in state, Timpview looks to be a strong contender to, once again, reclaim the state title.

Hey guys, it’s me Tupac from the Tupac article, and knack II is a mastapiece, almost as good as girls soccer. It’s pretty cool how they use their omega power to kick the ball really hard.
