This Thursday, December 2nd, Timpview’s FCCLA (Family and Career Leaders of America) will hold their Christmas Bazaar in the cafeteria from 5:30 to 8:00 PM. This event will serve to promote Socks for Legs, a FCCLA fundraiser and service project raising money to provide legs for amputee children in developing countries, by selling socks. Along with Socks for Legs, the Bazaar will also help raise money for FCCLA’s state competition, so if you’re interested in going, bring some money to help support a good cause!
The Bazaar, among other events held by FCCLA, is a great example of what FCCLA stands for. Ms. Bunn, a Timpview FACS (Family and Consumer Sciences) teacher and the school’s FCCLA advisor, described FCCLA as “the ‘club’ for Family and Consumer Sciences; [which are things like] Sewing, Foods, Preschool and Child Development classes [at Timpview]” she described FCCLA as “promoting the family and doing service projects”. Ran by student officers and advised by teachers like Ms. Bunn, FCCLA members are always finding ways to give back to the community using their skills developed in FACS classes. Socks for Legs is just one of multiple service projects that they’ve come up with to help people in need.
