Girls Timpview tennis ends a good season with a fourth-place overall finish In the Utah 5A state tournament. The tournament was packed with fans and supporting parents so finding places to sit and stand was not the easiest, but created a great atmosphere for the players.
For the three varsity single players our second and third singles, Kendall Woods and Mylie Cravens made it to the semi-finals both narrowly losing to players from Skyline, and our first singles player Hailey Miner got out in the quarter-finals from a player that goes to Woodscross. Our doubles varsity team had more success with both of the teams making it to semis but the first varsity (Jane Collins and Addi Burt) got out to Woods Cross. The second doubles (Lizzy Bednar and Lauren Austin) were eliminated by Olympus. Addi Burt had this to say about getting out,” It was very sad but I was also very happy.” She was sad to lose but very proud of her and her partner for making it this far and playing great against the team that won state for the first doubles single.
After interviewing Nate Warner, tennis coach, his main takeaways from the tournament would be how the girls played to their potential and everyone made it to the round that they should have and they didn’t get out early. With an overall finish of fourth place, the Timpview girl’s tennis team will take this tournament as a good learning experience and an overall good tournament for most.
