Quezon Villa is one of Timpview’s star football players. He is a senior who is a multi-sport athlete. Villa plays a big part of our sports system, so where and what he does is important. He has recently experienced a position change this football season, he used to play quarterback but now he has changed to “athlete”. This means he can and has played receiver, running back, and still a little quarterback.
One of the other sports Villa plays is basketball. He played varsity point guard for Timpview last year. When asked if he was playing this year he responded, “It’s still up in the air.” With this information, it is unknown if he will be returning to play his final year of high school basketball. Last year Villa helped lead Timpview to two state finals for both basketball and football, in both of those games Timpview came up short taking second place. He played a crucial role in both of those games.
He is also seen as a big unsung hero of Timpview sports. He hasn’t received any awards, or any official offers to play Division One football. When asked if he would like to play college football his response was, “Yes, it has always been a goal for me since I was a child.” So this season means a lot to him for many reasons like getting exposure, it’s his senior year, and more. Mr. Chow who was previously in the Timpview football system, and quarterback coach for Villa last year, when asked about Villa he said, “In my mind, he is the most important player for Timpview football. He’s a dream player for any coach. Tough, intelligent, and willing to take whatever role he needs to win. Even if that means that he doesn’t get the ball as much as he should. ”
Despite having fewer touches than last year, Villa continues to grind and lead his team towards a return to the state championship. Timpview is projected to win the state football title this year and Villa plays a part in that statement. Overall he is an unsung hero of Timpview football that deserves all the respect he has earned from his peers and coaches.
