On Saturday night, BYU football played Kansas State. At the time, it was the 13th ranked team in the country. Even though he wasn’t even listed on the depth chart at the beginning of the season due to injuries in the running back room, Sione Moa Timpview, class of 2020, got the start for the Cougars at Running back.
And then he didn’t look back. He had 15 carries for 76 yards, averaging 5.1 yards per carry. He had numerous runs of 15+ yards including one down to the 2 yard line. But the highlight of the night was on a 3rd and 10 in the 4th quarter, Moa broke 7 tackles and scored a 21 yard touchdown run on the play. Reminiscent of Marshawn Lynch.
When Moa was asked about his touchdown, he said this:
The Cougars went on to win the game 38-9, with much of the offensive production coming from Moa. Even with the other BYU running backs getting healthy, everyone in the program was impressed with Moa and a lot more of him will be seen throughout the season.
