Seussical The Musical performances are just around the corner, and excitement is building! This school year, the Timpview Drama Department welcomed a new director, Mrs. Napierski. A recent graduate of Brigham Young University with a degree in Theatre Arts Education, Napierski brings fresh energy and a deep passion for theater. Before her college studies, she spent many years involved in community and educational theater in her hometown in Missouri, where she discovered her love for the art of theater
After a troublesome experience in her sophomore year of high school, Napierski found that the theater was a place where she could truly belong. It became her safe space, where she could express herself and connect with others, a sense of belonging that ignited her desire to share this same welcoming environment with others. Her experience shaped her mission to create a space where all students feel accepted and valued.
Napierski’s vision for Timpview’s drama department is centered on developing essential soft skills like empathy, confidence, and collaboration in her students. She aims to build a supportive, encouraging atmosphere where students feel safe to take risks and grow—not just as performers, but as individuals.
If you know Mrs. Napierski, you’ll quickly see how kind, approachable, and welcoming she is. Her students often describe her as someone who genuinely cares about their well-being and success. She mentioned that “people don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.” She prioritizes creating an environment where students can embrace failure as part of the creative process, because she believes that failure is a stepping stone to growth. “Failure is an opportunity to learn,” she says, encouraging students to take risks and build the resilience needed to try again.
Looking ahead, Napierski has big plans for Timpview Theatre. One of her goals is to increase student enrollment and introduce a Musical Theatre class. She also plans to produce three shows this year, each designed to be fun, engaging, and accessible to students of all experience levels. Whether you’re an experienced performer or someone interested in trying theater for the first time, Napierski’s vision is to create a space where every student can explore their creativity and thrive. We’re all looking forward to the upcoming Seussical performances and the many great things to come under her direction!
