There is nothing better than cozying up on the couch next to the fireplace watching a holiday classic. This year we asked Timpview High School students for their favorite Christmas movies and here’s what they picked!
How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000) From: Ethan Overson
One of the most classic Christmas movies to start off our list! How the Grinch Stole Christmas is about a grumpy green creature named the Grinch who tries to ruin Christmas for the cheerful Whos in Whoville by stealing their decorations and presents. However, he learns the true meaning of the holiday through their kindness and joy.
Home Alone From: Eva Gerstner
Home Alone is another classic that reoccurs on our screens every Christmas. The story follows an 8-year-old boy, Kevin Mcallister the overlooked child who is left home alone when his family leaves for a family vacation to Paris without him. He is left to fend for himself and protect the house from two burglars.
The Night Before Christmas From: Elliot Myers
This spooky movie makes another appearance on our top five holiday movie lists but this time, Christmas edition. This movie is about Jack Skellington, the Pumpkin King of HalloweenTown, discovers Christmas TOwn and tries to bring Christmas to his world, leading to unexpected chaos.
Elf From: Brielle Okey
This hilarious, classic Christmas tale is about Buddy the elf, a human who was raised in the North Pole by Santa and his elves. He ventures out of the Christmas world to find his dad in New York City. Along the way, he struggles to adapt to the human world as he helps his family rediscover the Christmas spirit, and saves the holiday with his unwavering belief in Santa Claus.
Christmas With the Kranks From: Jolie Boots
I had to include this masterpiece of a holiday movie. This movie is about a couple who plans to skip Christmas and go on a tropical cruise but must scramble to celebrate when their daughter announces a last-minute holiday visit. I strongly recommend this movie this year.
Whether you’re in the mood for a funny, heartwarming, or spooky Christmas movie, these are some great options. There are some honorable mentions this year, such as: The Holiday, Daddy’s Home 2, and The Family Man. Have a Merry Christmas!
