Timpview Football plays at home this Friday, (August 29th) against the Lone Peak Knights. The T-Birds have had a slow start to their season, losing to West (23-50) and American Fork (25-48). The team is looking to get their first win of the season, and, with a home field advantage, they are set up for a good game.
However, the T-birds will have to overcome a major obstacle to get a win. Lone Peak has been a dominating force in their pre-region games, with a 2-0 record so far this season. Led by Quarterback Cruz Christensen, the knights took down the Crimson Cliffs (49-14), and the Orem Tigers (32-21). They are ranked one of the best in the 6A division, so they’re sure to be a tough challenge. One player to look out for is Kepa Niumeitolu, Idaho State football commit. He will likely be starting quarterback, adding to their already skilled offense.
While the Knights offense seems unbeatable, Timpviews defense has notable promise, such as three interceptions in the first quarter alone in their game against West. The T-birds defense is looking to improve their performance this Friday, after allowing 45+ points the past two games. T-Bird D-line member Tana Ho Ching explained that the team is focusing on going back to the fundamentals. He says that mastering the basics has been a theme of Timpview Football from day one.
The Timpview football game will be at home this Friday at 7 pm. Show up and show your T-birds some support!
