With only two weeks away from opening night, the cast and crew have been busy preparing to transport you into the world of The Little Mermaid. So, what does being in a high school show look like?
As much fun as it is, being in a musical (or any show) requires discipline and hard work. Actors must follow a tight schedule in order to learn all of the material, resulting in a majority of afternoons spent rehearsing. Most practices go no later than 5:30, but as opening night gets closer and tech week begins, rehearsals become more frequent and extend to as late as 9:30 pm.

Rehearsals are not the only thing on the to-do list of the actors and crew. The Little Mermaid cast recently hosted a community workshop for grades K-8. The day was spent teaching the kids dances and songs from the show, with a character meet-and-greet, and a performance to end the night. Aside from that, the cast participates in building, painting, set transportation, and advertising.
Despite the countless hours spent in the basement and the sleep deprivation, being in a show is an experience like no other. Inside jokes. New friends. Dancing in the wings. Sharing crazy lore. You aren’t just a cast. You are a family. The fulfillment of creating something together outweighs the cons by a lifetime.
Come support Timpview Theatre and experience the magic of The Little Mermaid. November 13 -18th @ 7pm.
