Following a great senior night, beating Spanish Fork in just 3 sets, the girls volleyball team heads into the beginning of the state tournament, set to play the Hunter Wolverines. Having a 14-13 season, the Thunderbirds are middle of the pack, ranked at 39 in the state, and finishing fourth in the region. As the Thunderbirds are ranked higher, this will be a home game in the Thunderdome.
This will be the first time Timpview has played Hunter this season, and is projected to be a close game. Throughout the season senior Captain Livia Eyre has been a driving force for the T-Birds, leading the team with a 36.8% kill percentage. Junior Bella Ballin leads the team in assists as the team’s main setter, having 199 on the season. That duo will be one to look out for in the game.
As for the Hunter Wolverines, Sandrine Nyambo leads the team in kills per set at 2, followed by Grace Gallagher and Skye Davidson. Metiline Wolfgramm leads the team in assists per set at 3.3. These four will be a leading force in the Hunter Wolverines efforts against the Thunderbirds.
Heading into the single elimination bracket, anything can happen. The winner of this game will play Woods Cross the No. 1 seed. Come support your T-Birds in the Thunderdome at 5 on Thursday October 23.
