Following a strong 40-15 win against Wasatch last Friday, Timpview Football will take on Orem in an away game in the second round of the state tournament this Friday, October 31st.
During region play Timpview lost to Orem in a tough battle, 22-9. This was one of the team’s two region losses, with the other one coming the following week to the Springville Red Devils.
Orem’s offense is full of strong players, the first being Quarterback Tayden Kaawa, who has an impressive 28 touchdowns on the year, with 8 of those being thrown to his favorite target, Kaue Akana. Kaue is averaging 47.9 yards per game, and should be one of the main focuses for the Timpview Defense. Another strong leader of the Orem offense is Senior TE Kai Wesley. Kai averages 33.5 yards pregame, and 18.6 per reception.
The Orem Tigers also have one of the strongest defenses in the state, led by linebacker Easton Kojima, who averages 10.8 tackles per game. Another strong contributor to the Tiger defense is Junior Cornerback Will Rasmussen, who has 3 interceptions on the year. Timpview transfer Aisa Galeai is another strong player for the Tigers on both sides of the ball, and could be problematic for the Thunderbirds.
Luckily as the season has gone on, both the Timpview offense and defense has started to show more promise, with lots of momentum coming off the big win last week. Overall, Timpview will have their hands full with talent, but the upset win is not impossible.
