Timpview Golf looks to make a big statement this year after finishing 5th at the state tournament last year. With 3 key players returning, Mo Lecheminant, Acey Smith and Calvin Lillywhite are leading the charge for the Thunderbirds.
With their first tournament at Soldier Hollow in Midway, they looked to make a big statement to start the year off strong. First tournament nerves were seen throughout the play between many teams. With the Thunderbirds shooting a 306. They look to make a promising bounce back. Calvin Lillywhite said the most important take away “ is not letting things you can’t control affect your mental state.” With lots of golf to come they look to bounce back.
Timpview golf has had a lot of success with the head coach for boys and girls Jeff Ward. Knowledge is something you cannot teach in any sport. With a winning coach including the impressive talent they are going to open some eyes this year. With the second tournament of the season the Thunderbirds shot a 304. The progress showed as they did come out to win that tournament. Stacking days the golf team went to Hobble creek shooting a solid 298. Making progress each tournament. They did go on to win that tournament. Winning back to back is a huge confidence booster. It’s still early in the season, so they need to stay level headed in future matchups.
Calvin Lilywhite is also standing at an impressive 7 under through his first 4 tournaments, holding first place in region 7, 4 ahead of Salem Hills Sophomore Carson Peterson. Other Thunderbirds follow with Mo Lecheminant in 9th, Acey Smith in 13th, and Teagan Rasmussen in 23rd. With others looking to climb the rankings in future tournaments.
Their next match is set on Wednesday, September 3rd at The Oaks in Spanish Fork.
