Timpview Football will take on American Fork this Friday, (August 22nd) with an opportunity to bounce back from a tough loss last Friday: 50-23 to West High. Timpview will play away at American Fork High, which could create a tough playing environment for the Thunderbirds.
American Fork got off to a strong start to their season. led by Senior Quarterback Kopono Manuela, who led them to a solid 35-3 win against the Pleasant Grove Vikings. Giving them lots of momentum heading into the game this weekend to try and stay undefeated and move to 2-0.
The Timpview defense is very optimistic towards their match up, especially after a promising start to the last game. Which had 3 interceptions on the first 3 drives off West High quarterback Kamden Lopati. Senior Safety Braxton Wilkerson believes, “as long as we each do all of our own assignments, the defense will be just fine.” Braxton plays on both sides of the ball, and is excited for a good game this weekend. When asked what he thought about the game, Defensive Lineman Oliver Rueckert said, “we have to learn how to finish with the same intensity that we start with….we are very tough up front, and if we stay healthy and maintain our strength throughout the game, we’ll be in great shape.” This comes after the defense shut down a strong West offense last week in the 1st Quarter. The Timpview defense is very strong and experienced, with lots of upperclassmen taking the lead. However, injuries and complications ended up allowing 50 points in the next 3 quarters.
Timpview’s offense will be led by Sophmore QB/WR Dennis Tua’one, Senior Receiver Braxton Wilkerson, and Senior RB Hunter Hopoate. The offense showed promise last week against West, with Tua’one being a very mobile and talented young receiving core.
The game is set to kick off at 7:00 PM at American Fork High School on Friday, August 22nd, 2025.
