In a heated and physical match on Thursday, Timpview High School’s girls soccer team secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Spanish Fork, marking their third win of the 2024 season. However, the game was marred by aggressive play and escalating tensions, leading to key injuries and a coach’s ejection.

At the 31-minute mark of the second half, Timpview’s Liv Sanchez (#10), one of the team’s most valuable players, was kneed in the chest, forcing her to exit the game. Shortly afterward, Kylie Pestana (#5) was trampled by a Spanish Fork player, further rattling Timpview’s squad.

The aggressive play on the field spilled over to the sidelines, where Timpview’s assistant coach erupted in frustration following the incidents. The tension reached a boiling point when, at 22 minutes remaining in the second half, the referee ejected the coach after heated words were exchanged.

Despite the challenges, Timpview found a way to pull through. With just seven minutes left in regulation, junior forward Ava Badger, wearing #16, scored the game’s only goal, securing a narrow 1-0 lead. The defense held strong in the final moments, allowing Timpview to preserve the win.

The victory adds another triumph to Timpview’s 2024 campaign, though the physical toll of the game may leave the team with challenges to overcome in the coming weeks.
