After 35 Years at Timpview High School coach, teacher and counselor Nate Warner will retire this summer.

Nate has been a part of Timpview High in many different ways since he started in 1991 as a teacher and coach. Nate started out teaching social studies, including history and government. After 10 years, and a masters degree in counseling, a spot opened up and Nate decided to try out being a school counselor. He has helped students with schedules and advice ever since. When reflecting on his time at Timpview, Nate commented, “It’s been a ride. 35 Years. Usually one of the first ones here and one of the last ones to leave.” Nate has given so much of his time and life to Timpview High School and it’s students.

On top of teaching and counseling, Nate has coached Timpview’s Sports teams for all 35 years of his career. Nate says that his “main sport was basketball.” He has been a part of many different championship teams and has seen many great players come through Timpview’s program. Nate has been a part of many other sports as well, including Football, Basketball, Golf, Tennis, Soccer and more. Most recently, Nate won a state championship with the Boys Tennis team last spring.

When asked what the biggest thing is that he will miss next year, Warner said, “I’ll miss just relationships with faculty and then with the students, that would be the number one thing for sure.” Nate continued, saying, “Not like those relationships will die, but they’ll change for sure.” Having been here for 35 Years, Nate has made many great relationships with co-workers, students, teachers, fellow coaches and different families.

When asked about the students at Timpview, Nate said he has seen “a lot of great students that work hard and are motivated and driven to do well. They have great goals […] it’s fun to celebrate and see the kids move on and start their own families.”

Nate has had a great influence on all sorts of different people, teams, and families in his time spent at Timpview. When asked about his future, Nate said it’s “possible” that he might still coach sports in the upcoming years. He has easily spent the most time at Timpview and has had the biggest impact of anyone ever. We are thankful for the impact he has had on our school and will miss his influence.
