With Prom season upon us, we’re all trying to look our best without spending too much money. Everyone says “you just need to know where to look,” but how do you learn where to look? I can’t tell you where to find the best dress or shoes, except to go thrifting, but I can tell you where to get your nails done because I have two amazingly talented friends.
Violet Curtis – Violet Jane Nails
Q: How long have you been doing nails?
A: I have been doing my own nails since I was 10 but I started doing them for other people in 2024 so about 2 years.
Q: Where can clients contact you/do you have an instagram?
A: My instagram is @violetjanenails or email [email protected]
Q: How do you set up appointments?
A: Just reach out to me and we will figure out a time that works for both me and the client.
Q: How early ahead do you have to book an appointment with you?
A: Usually it needs to be scheduled at least a week in advance otherwise I’m too busy. When a big dance is coming up, sometimes 2 weeks prior.
Q: What kinds of nails do you do?
A: I do gel mostly but sometimes just regular nail polish. I can do almost any design but complex ones take more time.
Q: What are your prices?
A: $10 for regular nail polish + design, $15 for gel polish, $20 for gel polish with design (also can be found on my instagram)
Q: What kind of products do you use (are there any allergies/sensitivities people should be aware of)?
A: I usually use the Beetles or Olive & June brands. Just be aware if your nails are sensitive. You can usually tell if its bad for you and then take it off right away.
Q: What are your specialties when it comes to nails?
A: I am a painter so I’m best at doing designs and details on the nails. I really like doing nails and everyone has loved their nails after.
Q: How long do your nails stay on/how do you take them off?
A: It definitely depends on who you are. If you pick at your nails, gel can stay for a week. If you try to keep them nice and leave them alone it’s like 2-3 weeks. I have some special stuff to take them off if they don’t by themselves, but soaking them can help remove the gel.
Q: How do you care for your nails if you want them to last?
A: Don’t pick at them is the biggest thing. If your actual nail is ripping you can get some strengthening nail polish to help them.

Q: What are your specialties when it comes to nails?
A: I specialize in long lasting and high quality nails for a cheap price. Design wise, I’m very good at matching inspiration picture for picture and also freestyling based on a vibe. I have a lot of variety and offer regular gel, cateye, chrome, charms, and can work with complicated patterns.
Q: How long do your nails stay on/how do you take them off?
A: The nails last 2-3 weeks (depending on how well you take care of them) and I take them off using a hand soak and nail drill.
Q: How do you care for your nails if you want them to last?
A: Avoid hot water as it breaks down the glue! Also avoid bending them and make sure to take care of your cuticles!
I have personally gotten nails done from both of these girls and both of the sets turned out fantastic. They were pretty, well-done, and long lasting, and they both worked hard to match my dress color. You should definitely save the extra money and support two of your classmates and get some awesome nails to complete your perfect outfit.
