It’s the most wonderful time of the year! It’s time to bring to life the magic of Christmas and Santa Claus! With help from Timpview high school students you can get involved too. Sub-4-Santa is one of Timpview’s long standing traditions, and it’s run by the Timpview Student Government. Cassidy Baker, the Student Government teacher, works tirelessly each year to get the ball rolling for the families and kids in need. Thankfully, once people know it’s time to give, it snowballs into many helping hands.

There are many moving parts of Sub-4-Santa and many ways you can contribute too. One way they raise money is through food nights. Food nights are where Timpview partners with a restaurant for one night and give a portion of their proceeds toward the Sub-4-Santa fundraiser. So far they’ve had food nights at Raising Canes, Fat Cats Costa Vida and Blaze Pizza in Orem. 

Another way Timpview has involved the community and rallied help is through the Angel Tree. Ms. Baker keeps a tree full of names of kids in need. Timpview students can pick a name, or multiple, at most times during the school day. If you decide to take a name, make sure you deliver your gifts back to her room, N232, before December 10th.

Additionally all of Timpview’s 1B class is competing for the title of most donations toward our schools food pantry. If your class wins or places in the top 10, you will receive a giant hand-made ribbon on your classroom window. Make sure to check the bag in your 1B class to see what items can be brought and donated. The bag also contains the monetary value of each item so you can increase your chance of winning.

During an interview, Baker said this concerning donations, “The donations are different [every year] so it’s hard to compare apples to apples but I’ve definitely seen more kids involved with Angel tree than before.” She also shared how she wants students to be “personally involved” instead of contributing in ways that are not as impactful through money alone.
