Attention all you lover girls and boys, your resident girl for all school dance information is back for our annual Valentine’s Day dance, Sweethearts.
Despite being the Valentine’s dance, Sweethearts won’t falling in February this year, it will instead be held January 31st from 8 – 10 PM at Timpview High School.
This year’s theme is Western Sweethearts. Despite other themes this year that were purely for decoration, students are encouraged to dress to theme. That would include hats, gingham, belts, and boots. You could even incorporate some fringe and turquoise if you want to go for a more Southwestern energy. (I’m going to use this as an opportunity to put in a good word for my grandparents’ business, they sell spoon rings embedded with turquoise. Dreamworks, The Spoon Co, based in Salt Lake, they’re amazing) But, as always, if you’re not into the theme, anything goes dress wise, as long as it complies with the school dress code.
Thankfully, people seem to have come back to their senses and many seem to have waited until after the break to ask. So don’t worry if you haven’t been asked yet. And ladies, there’s no rules saying only boys can ask to Sweethearts, so don’t be shy. If that boy hasn’t gotten up the nerve to ask you, ask him yourself. If he’s emasculated, he’s not the guy for you. Of course guys shouldn’t be scared either, many girls will feel touched by the effort, even if you’re just going as friends.
As usual, tickets will be $10 and will go on sale the Monday before the dance. Students and their dates will need to be in the green or yellow attendance in order to purchase tickets. You don’t need to bring your date to get tickets, you only need to give them the name. Tickets and receipts will need to be brought to the door. Along with both of your student IDs or Powerschool dashboards.
You guys know the drill, grab a date, some friends, or just pull up stag and go hunting for a sweetheart at the dance (yeah I know it was a mixed metaphor, stags are usually hunted, not doing the hunting, just run with me here).
No matter what you do, it’ll be a great time. Even if just to laugh at all the guys who suddenly think they’re real cowboys.
