May The Odds Be Ever In Your Favor
The Patriot Games

On Thursday, December 18, 2025, Trump announced his plans to host the first ever Patriot Games, in order to celebrate America’s 250th birthday next fall. This televised, four-day athletic event will require one teenage boy and girl from each US state/territory to compete.

This seemingly innocent and celebratory competition has quickly gained attention for its uncanny likeness to Suzanne Collin’s Hunger Games series. Set in a dystopian society, one male and female tribute from each district are forced to fight in a televised death match as a reminder of the Capitol’s control and power. Naturally, The Patriot Games will not reach this extremity, but this comparison has broken the internet.

Trump also announced plans to construct a triumphal arc, an arched passageway to celebrate significant events and victories, and to honor important people.

Arc de Triomphe in Paris, France

“We are the only major place without a triumphal arc. A beautiful triumphal arc, one like in Paris, where they have the great, a beautiful arc. They call it the Arc de Triomphe, and we’re going to have one in Washington, DC, very soon.” (CNN: Trump Announces Patriot Games)

Further details for The Patriot Games have not been released, but it can be assumed that more information will be disclosed as the games draw closer. This unprovided information includes (but is not limited to) the age range of the participants, the sporting events they’ll compete in, and how the tributes will be chosen. As of now, all we can do is wait and speculate what might happen in this modern-day Hunger Games. And for all the chosen athletes: may the odds be ever in your favor.
