The Lady T-Brids flag football team continues to soar this season. With growing interest among girls wanting to play and compete, the program has impressed many this year. The T-Birds remain undefeated, showing steady improvement each week and a strong sense of teamwork.
Head coach Chev Gregory, who also coaches the boys football team, has brought valuable experience and leadership to the field. His guidance has helped shape a young but determined group into a championship caliber team. Throughout the season, there has been so much growth, as they now finish off the season with an impressive seminal finals win.
Although ending with the victory, the Semifinal match up did not start in their favor. The T-Birds trailed 7-21 at halftime, forcing them to make several key adjustments. They shifted layers around to create better match-ups and moved around their defensive looks. “We had to switch things up to get momentum on our side”, said senior Amaya Tolman, who played a crucial role in the comeback.
This new strategy completely paid off. The defense tightened, and the offense found its rhythm. With a strong and critical interception from Tolman, the team surged ahead to take a 28-21 lead. A short touchdown run from sophomore Kya Gregory sealed the comeback victory, and the T-Birds held on to the win after taking a knee to finish off the game.
Next up, the Lady T-Birds face Skyridge in the championship game – a rematch of their previous nail-biter that ended in a 31-28 T-Bird victory. With significant improvement since the start of the season and careful film study, the team has already made the adjustment needed for another tough match up. With confidence high and momentum on their side, the Lady T-Birds are ready to finish what they started.
We wish them the best of luck as they travel to Sky-ridge for the championship showdown.
