The Timpview T-Birds fell to the Orem Tigers, 40-22 Friday (Oct. 31) on Halloween evening, furthering Orem football to the quarterfinal of state playoffs, and eliminating Timpview from playoff contention. Despite the loss, Cole Engemann led Timpview’s offense in his 3rd standout game of the season, able to provide an outstanding 32 completions leading him to his 89.4 QB rating.
On the offensive side of the ball, senior quarterback Cole Engemann, was extremely successful with 3 total touchdowns. He had a season high 32/50 on his passing attempts setting up 368 passing yards on the night. The run game for Timpview was established much slower than in prior games, with Taani Tuha, rushing for 52 yards on 15 attempts. With more difficulty scoring the ball on Friday, it was no surprise that Timpview emerged unsuccessful. When asked about some concluding thoughts on the season, Cole Engemann said, “It’s been such an incredible season, and I know as a team it didn’t end the way we all wanted obviously but the brotherhood will always be there.”
With such a high score put on the board by the Orem, there are questions as to whether there are defensive strategies that Timpview was not able to execute. The T-birds only made a few stops, and gave up a couple high yardage plays that seemed to put them to death due to simple errors. When Braxton Wilkerson was questioned about his inability to put out a consistent physical defense, he said, “It was just those fixable mistakes, just in this case we didn’t have the time or circumstances to fix them.” He then added that, “Although it didn’t end the way we all would’ve hoped, I loved coming together with all my brothers, and fighting every week. Something like that you just can’t take for granted”.
Despite this tragic end of the season, the entire Timpview Football team seems to have the same post season feeling, grateful for the opportunity. Seeing that come out of this football team really exposes the connection and brotherhood that has formed throughout the football program. Now entering the off season, Timpview will begin preparation to become 2026-2027 state champions.
