On Wednesday, November 12th, 5 Timpview Athletes were able to take part in College Signing Day. These 5 athletes have worked incredibly hard in order to take their athletic careers to the next level. Playing college sports is not only hard work, but a huge commitment.
The 5 Athletes Include:
Dean Rueckert: Brigham Young University (D1): Basketball
Dean is a 6’7″ Small Forward entering his senior year at Timpview. Dean has been a huge team leader the past 4 years, starting varsity since he was a Freshman. Dean announced his commitment on August 4th, 2025. Dean chose BYU over other good options including Clemson, Washington, the University of Utah, and Stanford. Dean’s decision to “stay home” was a big one for his career. Over the last few years, the resources at BYU have become top tier in the NCAA. This includes BYU’s new coach, Kevin Young. Coach Young has had good experience in the NBA, coaching players like Kevin Durant and Devin Booker, making BYU a great option for Dean.
Will Openshaw (Pictured): Brigham Young University (D1): Basketball
Will is also entering his senior year at Timpview. Will stands at 6’8″, giving Timpview a huge height advantage when paired with Rueckert on the floor. The BYU Signees will take the floor together for the first time this next Tuesday, November 18th at Bingham High School. When asked about his favorite thing about Openshaw and Rueckert, Head Coach Bradley Kitchen said “these two are phenomenal basketball players, but even better people.” This will be Coach Kitchens first year at Timpview, with Coach Ingle deciding to join Lone Peak earlier this year.
Lily Alder: Brigham Young University (D1): Cross Country/Track and Field
Lily Alder is also a senior at Timpview High School, and has won multiple state championships in her time here. Lily Signed to Brigham Young University, where she will join her former teammate Jane Hedengren. Jane and Lily made a phenomenal duo while at Timpview, winning state championships in cross country in 2023 and 2024. Along with these two wins came a track state championship in 2024. Lily and Jane will continue to carry on their strong duo while at BYU.
Telia Fiatoa: Eastern Wyoming College (JuCo): Volleyball
Telia was the starting Libero for the Timpview this past season, and was one of the biggest impact players and leaders on the team. Telia is signed to play at Eastern Wyoming college, which is a JuCo and is located in Torrington, Wyoming. Coach Bailey gave remarks on her, including how big of a leader she was not only on the floor, but also in the locker room and around the team in general.
Liv Eyre: Concordia University (D2): Volleyball
Liv was the starting outside hitter for our volleyball team this year, and said that one of the biggest reasons she committed to play at Concordia was to live out her dream of living on the beach. This is just one of the great benefits of living in Irvine. Liv also played basketball for Timpview, but has decided not to play her senior year. Liv has been recognized on the Utah 5A all state second team this year, which is a huge accomplishment.
Overall, we are excited to see our Timpview athletes take their talents to the next level, and can’t wait to see what they accomplish next.
