The Timpview T-Birds fell to Westlake 73–50 on Tuesday night (Nov. 18) at home, opening their girls basketball season at 0–1. Despite the loss, the T-Birds showed encouraging flashes on the offensive end.
Junior guard Bella Ballin led the way with efficient scoring and steady ball movement, helping Timpview stay competitive throughout the game. The team also found success by pushing the pace and creating quality looks in transition. When asked about her concluding thoughts on the game, she responded saying, “It was just the first game of the season, we got some things to figure out but I’m not too worried”. This confidence from inside the team shows promise for future success.
Defensively, Timpview had moments of strong pressure, forcing several turnovers and limiting Westlake’s scoring early in the game. However, consistent stops were difficult to sustain as Westlake heated up from the perimeter and controlled the boards. Still, the T-Birds demonstrated growing chemistry and improved communication for the first game of the season being against such a tough Westlake team.
With signs of progress on both ends, Timpview now looks ahead with optimism. If they continue sharpening their defensive rotations and maintain their offensive momentum, the T-Birds could be poised for a breakthrough performance in their next match up.
