Last Tuesday on November 11th, 2025, Timpview High School hosted their annual Veterans Day assembly. This is a longstanding tradition for the school as it is nearing two decades of tributes. The assembly is traditionally hosted on Veterans Day, and it celebrates those who have sacrificed so much for our country through their military service. Students planned the tribute assembly alongside Provo’s Freedom Festival. The board was an immense help in many ways including coordinating with Provo Parks and Recreation.
The assembly was set to start at 10:00 am, but students began welcoming guests before 9:00 am. The program included various kinds of tributes for the veterans. They had performances by the Edgemont Choir, Timpview Chamber Orchestra, Timpview Choir (A cappella and Madrigals), Timpview Ballroom and help from Timpview’s Color Guard. The assembly also included the Pledge of Allegiance by Student Body President Trenton Osguthorpe, a welcoming speech by Mayor Kaufusi and incredible veteran spotlights from four of our students. Special acknowledgement goes to the respectful Duet of “Taps” by Chloe Peterson & Kara Thompson.
Students spotlighted veterans with speeches like Brynlee Astle who honored Lieutenant Colonel Mike Hassiter, Quincey Perry who paid tribute to her Great-Grandfather First Lieutenant Edward J. Perry, Stefany Suero & Magdelena Leyton Lara who presented our school officer Major Taylor Knight, and Amaya Tolman who spotlighted Timpview’s beloved Master Sergeant Beau Kaimanu Sabagala.
The meeting was closed by the emcee and Timpview’s student veterans day assembly chair, who gave the closing remarks. The program gave special thanks to the following: Provo City, Provo Mayor’s Office, Provo Parks & Recreation, Provo Freedom Festival, Provo Costa Vida, Timpview Student Government, Timpview A cappella & Madrigals, Timpview American Sign Language Students, Timpview Chamber Orchestra, Timpview Color Guard, Timpview Cheer, Timpview Ballroom, Timpview High School, Covey Center and Timpview Latinos in Action Provo Veterans Council.
The assembly could not have been made possible without the Student Government teacher, Cassidy Baker. She was behind the scenes planning everything for the assembly and has been each year, making it better than the last. She put her whole heart and soul into this special day and it truly showed.
