Timpview bounces back and ruins Alta’s Homecoming

After suffering a brutal loss to Corner Canyon, Timpview responded in a big way on Friday, September 28th by blowing out Alta, 41-21. For those who thought Timpview’s football season was in jeopardy after last game, you thought wrong.

Timpview won big on Friday, effectively embarrassing the Hawks during their very own Homecoming weekend. It felt a bit like the T-Birds were taking revenge after being embarrassed by Corner Canyon last week during their Homecoming.

The game wasn’t even as close as the score shows. Timpview allowed all those 21 points in the 4th quarter. and the game was never for a second in doubt.

The games top performers included senior Rowan Reay, who had six receptions for 169 yards and a touchdown, senior Sione Moa, who rushed for 3 touchdowns and 172 yards on 15 carries, and senior Kaleo Neves, who had a team high six tackles to go along with six sacks.

This was a somewhat surprising performance for Timpview, as Alta was not supposed to be any kind of pushover. They are regarded by many to be one of the best teams in the state, with a really good strength of schedule and record coming into the game.

Alta’s resume includes wins over Lehi, Woods Cross, Farmington, Weber, and Cottonwood. Their only loss came at the hands of the notoriously dominant East High Leopards, and even that game was a really close one.

All and all, the game was a perfect way to bounce back from a dismal performance against Corner Canyon. Now, with region title hopes renewed, fans will go into the next games hopeful and optimistic.
