Friday night, the Timpview football team battled against Orem. The game was full of ups and downs making it a thrilling night of football. Leading up to this game Timpview was 7-2 compared to Orem’s record of 5-6. Nevertheless, many were nervous about this matchup. Timpview had a long break with no one to play which could’ve knocked them out of their rhythm. Both teams and schools brought energy to the old Provo High. The student sections loudly cheered on their teams. Screaming chants at the top of their lungs and fully dressed in black(Orem) and white(for Timpview). These two teams had played before with Timpview winning 41-21, but many argued that Orem didn’t have their full team due to injury. However, no excuses could be made this time as Timpview once again defeated the tigers and defended our territory. The anticipated game began with Timpview starting strong with a 14-0 start, thanks to a touchdown pass caught by Tei Nacua. And Timpview kept this momentum to get to 28-7 at the half. But Orem fought back scoring 14 in the third making it 28-21. But in the end, Timpview was able to secure the win thanks to a game winning interception by Nelesoni Tuua. The final score was 35-28. Everyone was happy, on the Timpview side after the stressful win. Grady Gregory said, “I’m happy with the win tonight but at the same time I’m excited and focused for the rest of state.” This feeling was a popular one due to the end of a perfect Friday night football game. Beating our rivals in a thrilling game and now looking forward to the next round of state is exciting. This Friday at 6pm Timpview will play Brighton. Brighton is an 8-3 team and ranked 8th in 5a. The game is expected to be close so please come and support!
