Timpviews Girls Volleyball is gaining one of the best-returning volleyball players in the state, and they’re stealing her from Timpviews cross-town rival, Provo High.

Current Junior Taray Tela has recently transferred to Timpview from Provo High to finish her high school career at Timpview. Tela says she has a good relationship with the Timpview Coach who coached Tela’s mom and aunties, Coach Bailey. Last year at Provo, she recorded 14 sets played, with 27 kills and 33 digs though due to an injury, Tela didn’t play the entire season. Her stats from the games she did play talk louder than words though.

Some people might not expect Tela to have been playing volleyball for only 3 years. Though still new to the game, Tela is making a strong impact everywhere she plays. When asked why she plays, Tela explains “ For my family, my mom played volleyball and always wanted me to play. My family also wants me to play in college”. Tela can very well play in college with her height, athletic ability, and willingness to learn; Tela has a lot of potential.

Her top college choices are USC, Oregon, and Louisville. Nobody can blame her for those being her top choices with the incredible academic and athletic programs those colleges produce, it’s hard to say no. Coming to Timpview made her college dream more likely and she is very excited about these new opportunities at Timpview.

With it now being club season, Tela is playing for the top club, Club V, and is advancing her game for the upcoming high school season. With Timpview’s strong athletic programs, Tela is excited to play for Timpview. When asked she said, “I like the Timpview relationships and culture, and definitely the sports.”
