Summer is a time to look forward to exciting things like school getting out, the warm weather and, most importantly, movies! From the summer blockbuster to the new exciting drama, summer always has some great movies in store for us. Here are the biggest movies to look forward to this summer.

THE BACKROOMS

This is the first big movie to come out this summer. It releases May 19th and it is produced by A24, who are responsible for recent films such as The Drama and Marty Supreme. It is based on a horror youtube series, and it follows a therapist’s patient who disappears to another reality and she must go to save him. This should be an interesting, fun thriller to go see with friends.

DISCLOSURE DAY

This is the newest movie directed by legendary director and producer Steven Spielberg. This one is about everyone’s favorite conspiracy theory–a secret government cover up of the existence of aliens. It should be a fun time, and with it directed by Spielberg it has all the makings of a good summer blockbuster. It comes out on June 12th.

TOY STORY 5

Why are they making another one? This one follows all the kids in the world abandoning their toys in favor of Ipads. It will probably suck and just be some cash grab, but I guess if you have little siblings or something it could be worth it to go. It comes to theatres June 19th.

THE ODYSSEY

This is the movie I’m most excited about this year. It’s directed by legendary director Christopher Nolan and all the trailers make it look pretty incredible. It’s got a good cast, with Hollywood frontrunners like Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway and Robert Pattinson. It’s going to be a really well-made, big budget summer blockbuster and I will be in theatres to see it on July 27th when it comes out.

SPIDER MAN: BRAND NEW DAY

It wouldn’t be summer without a big superhero blockbuster. And this time we get a new Spiderman. This one follows Spiderman after everyone loses his memory of him, and some powerful new enemies come out to fight him. It should just be a great time to go with friends or family. It comes out on July 31st.
