Basketball Starting Up

Basketball Starting Up

With the basketball season starting up tryouts just ended and the team is now posted. Thirty-Two players are in the program fifteen of which will be playing for the varsity team. Some of the players to watch for are Senior James Rust who is a D1 athlete. Rust has 2 offers at the moment one from Portland State and the other from South Dakota State. Rust is not committed to any school yet and will be committing at the end of his senior year. Another player to be watching for is Dean Rukert. Rukert is a Freshman who is 6’6” very athletic, a versatile defender, and can shoot the ball very well.

When asked how tryouts went Senior Eli St. Clair said,

“Tryouts went great, some people think that tryouts are a couple of day thing, but tryouts are every day of the offseason.”

The team had a good pre-season going 8-2 and having big wins against Skyridge and Herriman who are both big 6A schools. One of the things that the team is excited about is the Tarkin Classic down in Los Vegas. There are always a bunch of tough teams that go down there and it is a good way for the team to bond before the region.

There is a blue and white Game to start the season on Thursday, November 17th. The starting five for the team will be James rust, Dean Rukert, Colton Smith, Eli St. Clair, and Corbon Hansen.
