This last week on January 21 at the BYU Indoor meet Jane Hedengren, a sophomore runner at Timpview, broke the meet record in the mile.
She ran a 4:57.63 breaking the previous record by about ten seconds.
This was Jane’s season opener and the start of her track season.
Jane is the state champion in the 1600 and the 3200. This year Jane plans to focus more on the 800 and 1600 hoping to break the state records in both of those. The 1600 record right now is 4:49 and the 800 record is 2:08.
Jane will also be competing at the Nike Nationals postseason and hit a really fast 1600 there. Some of Jane’s goals are to stay positive and humble and work really hard to get her time. Jane still has three more years of track but after that, she wants to go run in college and then run pro after that.
