Timpview Boys Golf has had an incredible season, going undefeated and winning the region. Something that might surprise you is that the golfer leading the team is a sophomore. Sophomore Mo LeCheminant has dominated on the green this season. Scoring 70, 71, 64, 72, 74, 69, 69, 74, and 71 this season, averaging 70.4, Mo was just put on the all-region team for this year’s season as a sophomore.

LeCheminant has been playing on the green for a long time, “ [I’ve been] playing golf ever since I could stand. My dad got me into it at an early age and I’ve loved it ever since.” He has been very well known for being a star on the golf course from a young age, so it’s no wonder he’s a star in high school too. Something that makes him a great golfer is his drive and passion for the game. “What motivates me to work hard at golf is the opportunity to get better every day. Even if it is a small or simple thing, it’s super satisfying to see things improve. And when things click in competition, it is an amazing feeling to see the work pay off.” That mindset has definitely helped him throughout his golf career, especially when he faced a big “slump” in his golfing earlier this year. According to LeCheminant, his game started to shift a little and become inconsistent, and knowing how good he could be it really started to challenge him. But, he rose above that challenge and worked harder, which led to his game improving even more.

LeCheminant has seen lots of success in golf, and it’s only going to go up from here. He has big plans for his future in golf, and his next steps and goals for golf are bringing Timpview a State Championship and playing high-level Division One golf. The future is very bright for him in golf and Timpview Golf is extremely grateful to have this young golf star. Our team finished 3rd in State this week and LeCheminant finished 6th place overall (70-75, 145). Despite falling short of the championship, he and the golf team had a fantastic season and they hope to bring home the ring next season.
