During Timpview’s basketball run for the chip in 2023, Timpveiw stormed through the playoffs going undefeated with their smallest point difference being 15. Although Timpview competed in the state championship game last season, they came second place to the Alta Hawks. Even though they lost last season, this year Coach Ingle is looking to renew his state championship run. This time bringing home the first-place trophy. Timpview returns star Dean Rueckert and prodigy Aisa Ngalei. With the two-headed monster they have with Rueckert and Ngalei, they can make another run at the state championship.
This season only one team stands in their way. The returning state champions the Alta Hawks. The Hawks return every player on their roster from last year and they are hungry to go back-to-back this year. With the likes of Ace Reiser and Jaxon Johnson, they too have a two-headed monster. Along with those two they have superstars on the rise fulfilling any needs the coaches ask of them to get a win. Alta beat Timpview last year, holding the Thunderbirds to a season-low fifty-three points.
This year Coach Ingle is confident in his young team that they can beat the Alta Hawks and win the state championship this year. However, many worry the Thunderbirds are too young and inexperienced to make a run at the state title or let alone win the region. But the proof is in the pudding! Timpview’s opener was against the Lone Peak knights and they blew them out of the water. Although they had two heartbreak losses to Provo and Layton, they bounced back and defeated Bountiful to get back on the winning track.
As of right now, it’s too early to tell if Timpview will win the state championship. Their potential is definitely through the roof. Which is way higher than many people expected it to be. We wish Coach Ingle good luck this season and we are cheering them on!
